How Does Market America Work?
I am sure you will like to know how Market America works.
Market America is an e-commerce MLM opportunity, or you can call it a product brokerage and internet marketing multi-level marketing opportunity.
Market America runs its MLM business model with Independent Distributors, and Unfranchise Business Owners Usually referred to as UnFranchise Owners.
Though Market America can be likened to be like a franchise with a standard state of the art management system, it is unlike any franchise.
The UnFranchise Owners of Market America does not need to pay franchise fees, no territorial restrictions, no monthly royalties. The startup has little to no expense with almost no risk.
Each Market America Independent Distributor has his/her web portal for the sales of their products of choice.
The MLM business model of Market America is focused on the sale of the company branded products, and that of the third-party products via the company e-commerce portal called Shop.com
The Shop.com is just like any e-commerce platform. It is often furnished and stocked with third party and merchants' products.
Independent Distributors and Unfranchise Business Owners are expected to recruit more distributors to own more online stores, i.e., Shop com. They are mandated and planned to use the online stores for every of their daily purchase for bonus offers and cashback.
Market America will also offer retail customers a certain percentage of cashback on every customer they refer to purchase Shop com.
What is Market America?
Market America broke into the Market as a publicly-traded company by Founder and current CEO James H. Ridinger and his wife, and current Market America Vice President Loren Ridinger, in 1992. JR Ridinger was a big name distributor for AMWAY before he decided to step out with his own MLM company.
Since its creation, Market America has enjoyed tremendous success, earning rave reviews among celebrities and highlights in respected publications like Vogue, U.S. Weekly, Allure, and People Magazines.
The Better Business Bureau has also given the company positive values in their assessments of a business that now spreads its influence in countries like Australia, the U.K., Singapore, Canada, Taiwan, Malaysia, Spain, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.
That's not to say Market America has not been without her share of setbacks. Most notably was the instance of the filed lawsuits from the SEC in 1999, shortly before Market America became a private corporation.

Market America Products Explained
Market America is a market (if that wasn't obvious enough), and it has no industrial inclinations.
That is, Market America does not produce any of the products they sell.
Instead, they run a brokerage model that allows them to showcase and sell products from different vendors and manufacturers.
This relationship they keep with these producers ensure they have a steady supply of quality products to sell through their platform.
Among the brands are famous names like Apple, Nike, and Target, who use Market America's e-commerce website/shop com platform to advertise and sell their products, which means they have high-grade releases seasonally to keep within touching distance of their rivals.
Meanwhile, they also have some unique names and products that can only be found on their platform to force people to buy through them.
These unique brands that Market America promote include:
- Timeless Prescription,
- TLS Weight Loss Solution etc.
Other names that deal in Nutritional and Nutraceutical Supplements include:
- Clothes, beauty and skincare products, anti-aging products, cleansers, hair therapy products, heart care products, groceries, and other personal care products.
- Market America is also the proud home of M.A. Web Centers, a content creation solution involved in SEO, social media and email marketing, site analysis and statistics recording, and many other facets of the modern web-based businesses.
- While Market America is not capable of attaching retail prices for these goods, they offer the Cashback option that individual websites cannot provide and Market
- America's Shop.com alternative places retail prices on a couple of products.
Market America Compensation Plan
Being an Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners with Market America means you can only get your earnings by plan tracks generated volume.
This volume which can only be generated by selling the services and products on the various sales pages or the Shop com (e-commerce the channel of Market Channel).
The commissions earned through this compensation plan are disbursed based on volumes supplementary to Business Development Centers on binary structures.
In Market America, the binary compensation structure is enforced by assigning three positions in the binary team to the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners. These three positions are known as Business Development Centers.
The binary structure has the Independent Distributors, and UnFranchise Owners sat at the top of the chain, with two teams placed on either side that split into further two teams to form the second level, which has four teams.
This continues as required, with each level having double the positions of the previous level filled by recruiting Independent Distributors directly and indirectly. The commissions include:
Multi-Level Marketing Commissions
Members with market America qualify for this commission by generation at least 200 Business Volume Points (B.V.).
The B.V. can only be obtained when the Independent Distributors/UnFranchise Owners and retail customers they referred buy enough ‘Exclusive Products' from the platform.
Qualification is not all that is required, though, as the Independent Distributors have to be ‘activated' too. To be activated, the independent distributors must recruit two other qualified distributors.
Residual commissions paid to Market AmericaIndependent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners depend on the B.V. and IBV that both the left and right sides of the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners ‘s team generate.
The volumes that both sides generate through the buying and selling of the ‘exclusive products' available only on Market America are added every week to form the Group Volume of that week for that team.
The B.V. and IBV separately determine how much commissions are due to each Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners of Market America, and the standard payment ratio is that $300 is paid for getting up to 1,200 IBV and B.V. after it meets the matched qualification conditions.
If the IBV or B.V. is not used that week, it can be transferred to another week, and $600 is automatically paid out once the accumulated B.V. and IBV reach 5000, after which the tally turns to zero in a process regarded as completing the ‘commission cycle.'
If this Market America Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners complete the commission cycle in the space of a week, he/she qualifies for a Management Bonus worth $600 for each cycle completed by the matched Position on the right and left sides of the team.
Of course, this bonus has an upper limit, with $3600 being the most money that can be earned by each Business Development Center through management bonuses.
Independent Distributors with Market America get cashback bonuses from purchases they make in Market America's Shop com platform, as well as when customers use their referrals to buy products from the Shop com platform.
Every product bought through replicated sales channels and the shop com platform of Market America generates a retail bonus for the Market America Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners involved.
Up to half of this commission is given to the independent distributors that refer the customer.
Extra Business Development Centers
If Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners of Market America completes the commission cycle for the very first time, the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners are given a new business center.

Market America Sales Representative Requirements

You can later begin to participate in the Market America compensation plan at a later time if you submit your subscription fee on any of your order or with your completed application form.

You must select the UnFranchise Owner on your entry classification; this must be with your subscription fee for you to be able to participate in the Market America Compensation Plan so that you can start earning commissions and management bonuses.

To join Market America as an Independent Distributors, all you need is to pay the membership fee; then, you can buy some ‘exclusive products and services' by paying for a fast start pack or any other package.
After then, you will need to either pay a monthly and annual subscription fee.
How much does it cost to join Market America?
The membership fee for Market America Independent Distributors costs about $129.95, and the Fast Start Packs (which is an optional expense) costs a further $399.
The monthly activation fee costs $20, while the annual fee is $99.95.
Who Is Market America for?
Earning with Market America requires you to be that strong product marketer that can sell the products and make active referrals while strengthening the binary teams to exploit Market America's compensation plan.
How to Make Money with Market America
You have three ways to make money with Market America.
The first is to be a distributor of the products, buy and sell until you have a customer base healthy enough to generate wealth for you consistently.
Otherwise, you can pay less attention to promoting the Market America products and choose to expand your team instead.
Selling the Products
The unique structure in place at market America means there's a broad spectrum of products, not one of them deserves any special recognition just because of the sea of products available in the store.
Unfortunately, the prices at Market America's stores are nothing spectacular.
Products are costlier Market America products are the same products at the same prices in other stores; even the ‘exclusive products' are not too special in terms of effectiveness.
There's also the Cashback program for customers and distributors to get some few bucks from purchases.
Still, even that doesn't cover up the fact that there are no notable differences between Market America and any other stores out there.
Also, if they do visit the website, they gain nothing special by going through distributors, not when they can just order directly from Market America.
For Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners, that's terrible for business.
Perhaps that is offset a bit by the fact that joining Market America as a sales representative gives you access to the products at discounts, so you can make a profit off retail sales, and without paying a subscription fee to Market America.
These stores are not anything special, just replicated sale websites that Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners earn bonuses from with each sale they make.
The downside is that the subscription fee for the Unfranchise scheme is a mammoth $129.95 that doesn't include any free products.
Building a Team
While many argue that Market America is not an MLM business since it doesn't use a pyramidal scheme, the fact that it uses a binary structure for its compensation plan says something different.
And just like other companies that use MLM models, it only stands to reason that the best benefits for Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners of Market America come from building a team.
Market America takes note of the products from partner stores sold by the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners through a value called the Internet Business Volume (IBV), and the ‘exclusive products' sold through the Business Volume (B.V.).
These volumes track the performance of the team under you, and your earnings are based on which side of the binary structure performs the worst.
In a case where one side was beneficial at sales compared to the other hand, you get little earnings because of the underperforming team, even though you sold a lot because of the better side of the binary structure.
You will earn cash back from every one of your online purchases and from every purchase made by people you introduce to the company that purchases the Market America eCommerce store.
So, you earn cashback in two ways.
How Much Can You Make with Market America?
You might be interested to know that Market America Sales Representative (Independent Distributors) and UnFranchise Ownersearn between 30% – 50% from the reselling of the products.
They also make 35 cents cashback from every dollar used in buying products through the company's eCommerce store.
Don't expect the prices are not lower than they are in other online stores, which discourages people from using the Market America eCommerce store.
Thus, the best way to earn money is through the different bonuses you can exploit as Independent Distributors or Market America Sales Representative and UnFranchise Owners of Market America.
The different commissions should be your target as much as sales should be made.
The residual commissions can be the lowest target you have for each week.
While 1200PV can be a bit hard to get, the reward of $300 should be enough motivation, and you can hold the points to the next time week if you have an excess of P.V. points.
If the points accumulate, you can also get some excellent bonuses like the management bonus that is worth $600, if you can collect 5000 combined B.V. and IBV POINTS.
Are Market America Sales Representative Making Money?
Market America has not been making the company income disclosure statement available to the public domain; therefore, it is difficult to make money as a Market America Sales Representative.
The company has refused to give an Income Disclosure Statement, and there's a lot of speculation that the figures aren't pretty to look at.
Indeed, which MLM company ever have good average earnings to report. Only very few at the top of every MLM scheme are making money.
This was confirmed in My Jon M Taylor's book ” The Multi-Level Marketing Unmasked“; he stated that 99.7% of men and women that join MLM always lose their money.
Please don't lose your money!
It requires a lot of work and committed to chasing people around to get to the top if you are not the Owner or start with the company as a director.
I am sorry that you may not make a full-time income with Market America Compensation Plan.
Why It Is Difficult to Make Money with Market America
There's a lot of problems facing Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners of Market America, starting from the platform itself.
The bland design used in the websites and pine sales portals doesn't encourage buyers in a world that has Amazon.
The startup fee is also something else, and to realize that there's no pin or little gifts given for joining Market America with a sign-up fee that is above $100.
The buyers can also directly buy the products from the website, which renders the role of Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners useless.
Also, while it isn't new to MLMs, the idea of getting paid by the weakest side in your binary team is not a comfortable one.
If you're not used to selling products, then your losses are inevitable.

What is Good About Market America?
It might not be as easy as Market America advertises, there is a clearer path to earning than you can see with a lot of MLMs.
You just have to be an experienced salesperson and marketer to make it. That shouldn't be too hard.
Market America dealing with so many products allow the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners to have diversity in their stores.
That diversity means more sales if the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners can find the right application.
The MLM oddball
Market America uses a binary structure for its compensation plan.
Unlike the uni-level structure, the binary structure allows the users to be more relaxed about recruitment since the earning calculations are simple, and there's no burden of tracking who recruited James.
Market America has been through a lot since its introduction in 1992.
That, alongside its relationship with some of the most popular brands, means you can expect that the company will not just disappear like those scam MLMs that you might have heard of.
Issues with Market America
Bad prices are unappealing prices, and that's what Market America attaches to their products on sale.
Some are too expensive for the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners to work with, while most just have average prices that are not so different from other stores.
Market America has an old look about it, and not in a relaxed way.
The sites and concepts look outdated, and there's a lot of overhyping written in their footnotes that make everyone want to puke.
All the work, none of the pay
It is the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners that do the job why the people at the top of the scheme and the owners earning the most.
Hence, the Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners do the marketing, and Market America earns money.
The Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners were told they'd be making money but weren't shown who for.
Online/Offline Complaints About Market America
A simple search on Google for complaints about Market America will yield pages of touching stories of people taking the plunge of making infinitive investment costs and failing to make up on their losses.
While that story isn't peculiar to this MLM, it's interesting that people seldom strike it rich through here.
A bigger problem is that Market America teaches its Independent Distributors and UnFranchise Owners different gears of aggressive marketing that ends up isolating them after they harass every single person they know.
One tale that might strike the heart was a woman crying on a forum that her son was “gone” since all he's interested in doing is “eating and sleeping well, so he can breathe more Market America.”
Customers have also left bad reviews too, mostly complaining about how much expensive buying from Market America is compared to local stores.
What is Market America Shop com?
Market America bought a shopping comparison company called “Shop com” in 2010 to replace it with the retailing domain name of Market America (Which was the eCommerce store of the company then).
It was bought at an undisclosed amount then.
The Shop com was adopted and used as the eCommerce store for Market America that manages all third party and merchants' goods for the company. It helps the company expands its cashback program more effectively.
Shop com is an online leader in cashback shopping today. It pays customers up to 50% cashback for buying the things they already bought in the same stores. That helps to encourage a repeat purchase for the company.
It is also essential to know that every retail customer that shares Cashback program with friends and family will earn ½% of the cashback on every purchase made by people they referred to Market America that now buys through Shop com.
Market America BBB Reviews
The Better Business Bureau has rated Market America
positively for years, with an A+ rating at the time of writing.
Better Business Bureau (BBB) has awarded Market America and SHOP COM twice the highest possible honors, i.e., the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. Market America received this award both in 2013 and in 2018.
This placed Market America among the very few elite classes of BBB-accredited organizations.
This is a pointer to just one thing; it shows that the company “Market America” is being recognized
for its flawless standards of customer excellence and their unyielding devotion to the customer and ethical behavior and practices as related to customer service and supports.
BBB accreditation is all about customer services and responds to customer complaints; it has nothing to do with if the Market America distributors are making money or not.

Market America Lawsuits
Market America was always going to face trouble for failing to disclose their Income Statements. In March of 2017, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Market America headed by Chaunjie Yang and Ollie Lan.
The lawsuit was based on misleading information, with claims that only those at the very top of the Market America chain earn the type of earning potential that Market America presents itself to give out.
It was declared that “Ninety percent of sellers do not receive a penny,” per the lawsuit, and that “$7.3 billion valuations come from millions of people who have lost money after enrolling in the pyramid scheme”.
Two years later, Zou et al. filed another class-action lawsuit against Market America in a court in California that Market America was operating by using a pyramid scheme.
Later in September, the case was transferred to another court in North Carolina. It was stated that 90% of its distributors were guaranteed losses for their investing in Market America”, which is contrary to Market America's claims that you will get rich in two years if you follow the “two-year blueprint.”
Is Market America a Legitimate Business?
To be clear, Market America is a legitimate business and not a scam.
Market America business model is MLM structured based; all MLM based companies are often mistaken to be a scam.
Please be sure that Market America delivered what they promised their Independent Representatives. And they follow their compensation plan.
The only problem is this; you may not make money because it is only the early joiners and the owners of the MLM based company that make the most of the earnings.
88% of MLM distributors are not making money; it is only the top less than 5% that does.
Is Market America a Pyramid?
No, Market America is not a pyramid scheme.
Market America is a multi-level marketing product brokerage and internet marketing company. Market America makes money from sales of the company products on its eCommerce platform.
Yes, there is a subscription fee to be paid before you can join as a distributor; but they deliver the goods and products you paid for.
The pyramid scheme process does not involve the sales and marketing of physical products.
Please be sure to know that Market America is neither a Pyramid scheme nor is it a Ponzi scheme.
Is Market America Worth It?
Thanks for reading my Market America Sales Representative review.
Do you still think you can make money with Market America? Is Market America a Legitimate Business? Or, do you think that Market America a Pyramid?
While it is true that they have a clear pathway for you to make money, it's regrettable that it's unlikely that you will make money with the Market America compensation plan.
In my personal opinion, I don't like Market America worth the effort and stress.
Why? Because you will be working for the owners, the directors, and the people at the top of the scheme.
Also, because of the sharing of the commissions on the product sold via the shop com, the prize will be costly, and you can get those products at a better price on the Amazon platform.
This is why I am recommending that you own your own business online. You can promote thousands of products and companies.
